We are looking for energetic, responsible, and caring individuals to supervise and support young students attending our English language camps in Malta. This is a unique opportunity to combine leadership, travel, and cultural exchange while ensuring students have a safe, enjoyable, and enriching stay.
Job Summary
The Summer Live-in Group Leader is responsible for the supervision, safety, and wellbeing of a group of international students aged primarily 13–17 during a short-term summer program. Living on-site with the students in a hotel in St. Paul’s Bay, the Group Leader always serves as the main point of contact for students, ensuring a safe, engaging, and enjoyable experience both during activities and free time.
Key Responsibilities
Student Supervision & Welfare
- Act as the primary supervisor and guardian for assigned students throughout the program
- Ensure students’ safety, wellbeing, and adherence to program rules always
- Be available 24/7 as the main point of contact for student needs, concerns, and emergencies
- Manage attendance, curfews, room checks, and daily routines
- Handle minor issues and escalate serious matters according to program procedures
Activities & Program Support
- Accompany students to scheduled activities, excursions, and events
- Organize and lead games, competitions, and social activities
- Encourage student participation and positive group dynamics
- Support cultural exchange and create a welcoming, inclusive environment
Communication & Administration
- Communicate effectively with program coordinators and on-site staff
- Maintain daily reports, attendance lists, and incident records as required
- Liaise with hotel staff, activity providers, and transport services
- Communicate clearly and professionally with students, staff, and external contacts
Health, Safety & Emergencies
- Respond calmly and effectively to emergencies, including medical situations
- Ensure students follow health and safety guidelines during all activities and excursions
- Accompany students to medical appointments if required
- Always follow safeguarding and child protection policies
Qualifications & Skills
- Experience working with children or teenagers (camp counselor, teacher, youth leader, etc.)
- Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Ability to manage groups and enforce rules in a fair and supportive manner
- Confident, responsible, and adaptable in a residential setting
- Fluent in English; additional languages are an advantage
Requirements
- Ability to commit to the full 2–6-week program period
- Live in a hotel with students for the duration of the program
- Valid police conduct / background check (or willingness to obtain one)
- Legally able to work in Malta with a Maltese or EU passport
Work Environment
- Residential, live-in role based in a hotel in St. Paul’s Bay
- Includes evenings, weekends, and on-call responsibilities
